I am frustrated that I have been married to a man for 15 years and now going through a divorce. What is worse, we married when my daughter from my first marriage was 2 years old, now at 17, he acts like she is nothing to him. How can anyone spend 15 years with a child, feeding, clothing, caring, and participating in every aspect of her life, act like she is the step child?
She has called him dad since she was 2 and still does today. I feel like when anyone invests all the time and energy to take a child as their own and then to turn on a dime and act like they never meant a thing to them is infuriating. GRRRRRR!!!!!

I hope the pain has subsided since 2008 - or maybe he came to his senses. My step-father married my mother when I was 10. I called him daddy from day one! Then after 17 years, he disappeared one night and I found out he had a girlfriend that he moved in from another city! I didn't tell my mom, but hunted him down and confronted him. I begged him to give me 15 minutes and tell my mother himself - and to stay my daddy and the grandfather of my 2 children. He left me in a parking lot screaming and crying for him not to leave me. He drove away. The hurt your daughter feels I understand. The anger you feel is so validated. I am so sorry.
